Clark’s Point Cento, 2018/2019
Thai kozo, various clays, photographs, wire 15’ x 6’ x .5’ These prints are what remain of 38 ceramic boxes and 38 corresponding letter press prints. The boxes were placed on the tide line, at Clark’s Point in New Bedford, facing out to sea. (Please reference Sea wall Cento video.) Inside each box I placed a letterpress print featuring lines of poetry representing elements not so easily tucked in a suitcase, what we must leave behind: relationships, events, employment, places visited, paths walked, rooms, buildings, memories. Prior to the tide washing in, I cast an embossment of each box on a second letterpress print which is featured here with photographs from the beach tucked in the shadows.
